A local, owner-operated concrete company

Cieslak Concrete Construction is based in Utica, Michigan and works throughout Southeast Michigan. Brandon is personally involved from the first conversation through the final walkthrough, so you're dealing with the person actually accountable for the work — not a salesperson.

Our mission is simple: deliver quality concrete work built on proper preparation, honest communication and craftsmanship that lasts. Residential jobs include Silencure SRT curing compound and a penetrating sealer, restoration of the areas we disturb, and a final cleanup our customers regularly comment on.

On the commercial side we handle flatwork, slabs, footings, equipment and dumpster pads, sidewalk replacement and safety bollards — and we partner with general contractors on residential or commercial scopes as a sub who answers the phone, holds the schedule and keeps scope and pricing clear from bid to walkthrough.

How much does concrete cost per square foot in Macomb County, Michigan?

On larger projects of approximately 1,000 square feet or more, new broom-finish concrete installation generally ranges from $8–$11 per square foot, and removal and replacement of existing broom-finish concrete generally ranges from $9–$12 per square foot. Exposed aggregate generally runs $15–$20 per square foot and stamped concrete $20–$30 per square foot. Smaller projects are priced individually rather than strictly by square footage, and Cieslak Concrete Construction has a $2,500 minimum for concrete installation projects. These are general guidelines — final pricing depends on removal, excavation, base preparation, access, thickness, reinforcement and finish.

Why do smaller concrete projects cost more per square foot?

Smaller projects cost more per square foot because many project costs do not shrink with the job. Mobilization, equipment, forming, disposal, the concrete truck and the crew day cost close to the same whether the pour is 300 square feet or 1,200. That is why Cieslak Concrete prices projects under roughly 1,000 square feet individually instead of applying a square-foot rate, and why there is a $2,500 minimum for concrete installation projects.

How thick should a concrete driveway or patio be?

Residential patios and walkways are typically placed at four inches on a compacted base. Driveways and any slab that will hold vehicles, trailers or equipment are placed thicker and reinforced, and we set the exact thickness based on what will actually be driven or parked on it.

How long before you can walk or drive on new concrete?

As a general rule, keep foot traffic off for the first day or two and vehicles off considerably longer while the concrete gains strength. We give you the specific timing for your pour at the walkthrough, since weather and mix affect it.

What is the difference between broom-finished, stamped and exposed aggregate concrete?

A broom finish is the standard textured, slip-resistant surface created by dragging a broom across fresh concrete. Stamped concrete is patterned and colored to imitate stone, brick or slate. Exposed aggregate washes back the top paste to reveal the natural stone in the mix, giving a durable textured surface. All three are built on the same base and thickness — the difference is the finish.
